Erasmus+ Science Days in Italy

About 60 students from our school participated as guides in the workshops organized by our
institute, while about 560 pupils, along with their teachers, visited the workshops.
The workshops:
1) “Sustainable temperature”
Aims: bringing the children closer to the world of physics (temperature);
raising the children’s awareness of environmental issues, which are increasingly present
in our daily lives, through interactive activities such as the production of recycled paper.
2) “The magnificent 3”
Aims: showing the contribute of chemistry in the kitchen.
The guides showed how milk, lemon and fruit juice can be used and transformed (in the kitchen
and not), asking the children to find the right dosage, the correct operating procedures, the most
appropriate materials and tools in order to get the expected results. Five different activities were
proposed, among which how to make a battery using lemons or Coke, how to make fruit juice
caviar or Coke caviar, and how to make chocolate lollipops or chocolate spaghetti.
By taking part in the 2019 Bergamoscienza Festival, the guide-students took on the role of science
popularizers, offering the students from other schools a unique peer-to-peer learning experience.
They also provided the general public with an opportunity of informal education, which contributes
to strengthen the precious relationship between science and civic awareness.
It was observed that running the workshops enhanced the students’ communicative and relational
abilities, such as adapting to different interlocutors and situations, their ability to cope with
unexpected events, organize the work and share out tasks.

Erasmus+ Science Days in France

The science day at LEGTA Xavier Bernard school was held in partnership with Campus Agrinov.
Approximately 110 students from school attended the event. Some of them helped in the preparations, others took part in conferences and/or workshops and others conducted workshops. Other schools (mainly secondary schools) also had about 40 participants during some workshops and conferences.

Nearly 100 adults (mainly agricultural professionals) arrived at least for the welcome ceremony and some of them stayed for a few hours to take part in conferences and/or workshops.

Some conferences and workshops were held in cooperation with CampusAgrinov, focusing on soil, agriculture and climate change. There was also one conference dedicated to "Bee food related to agriculture and biodiversity", led by a former student from our school (graduates).

Furthermore, there were also workshops made and conducted by our students at the post-A level: "from seed to plate", and "how to reduce pesticides in today's agriculture, with a presentation of an application called "Appliphyt", as well as a workshop that the DNA school conducted on what kinds of organisms live in our soil under our feet... and how they are useful.

STEMs were everywhere during these 2 days (conferences and workshops). The students realized that agriculture and STEM can be a very important factor for jobs. They also became aware that thanks to the Erasmus Agency they can have a work placement abroad. They were interested in what other students had already done in the Erasmus+ Mathbuster project  It was a time to talk about various aspects, exchange opinions, and students also had to work together and adapt to the Erasmus+ programme.
